Hi;
I have over 40 years of experience and expertise in the field of mental health as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist . I have thoroughly enjoyed spending my career treating the elderly, adults, adolescents, children and their families in private practice, residential , hospital and educational settings. I've received specialized training in trauma treatment , cognitive behavioral therapy, PTSD treatment, play therapy, solution focused therapy and client centered therapy, among many other treatment modalities .
I truly believe that every individual deserves help, treatment and the opportunity for hope. I've been told , numerous times , that I possess a wonderful sense of humor; I believe that laughter , along with compassion , empathy , kindness and understanding are mandatory to be give an individual the therapeutic outcome they deserve.
I've held several administrative positions in mental health including directing a residential treatment program for severely emotionally disturbed children and years later I was the Director of Psychiatry for a major children's medical center.
I spent several years working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities helping them navigate the system and building relationships within the community.
In private practice I worked with adults struggling with relationship issues, stress issues, issues related to raising difficult to manage children and adolescents and parenting issues. I have spent 5 years working with the elderly who have been recently diagnosed with early onset dementia , Alzheimer's who are co-diagnosed with anxiety disorders and depression.
This past year has been extremely difficult for adults, children and families. As a result, it has created stressful situations for parents. If you've had difficulties with these issues , I taught parenting classes for numerous years and I'm more than happy to help with issues related to anxiety, depression and any school related problems your children or adolescents may be experiencing as a result of the pandemic.
Please feel free to reach out to me, I'm here to help.
I look forward to working with each one of you !

Hello! My name is Jeanne Peel, and I am a Marriage and Family Therapist with over 20 years of experience. I am licensed in Florida, and both North and South Carolina, and have worked with children, teens, and adults in individual, family, couple’s, and group settings. I have worked in community mental health, residential treatment, and private practice doing online therapy, as well as working for an insurance company call center doing mental health assessments to help connect people to therapy. I have helped clients in a wide range of areas including anger management, anxiety, communication issues, depression, grief/loss, low self-esteem, mindfulness, parenting problems, relationship issues, and work/life balance. I have also helped many people who have experienced trauma or various types of abuse.
My formal journey to become a therapist started when I was 40, but I think I've been in training my whole life. This isn't just something I DO, it's part of who I AM. I wear lots of hats and am grateful for each of them. I am a veteran myself and have 15 years under my belt as a military spouse, so military folks have an automatic special place in my heart. I have been married and divorced, I have 5 adult kids and 7 grandkids, and I helped my mom care for my dad with Alzheimer's until he died early in October 2021. I am very spiritual and believe we come into each other’s lives for a reason because we all have lessons to learn from one another. I work at staying fit and practicing good self-care by enjoying good nutrition, running, walking, biking, kayaking, yoga, and meditation.
My therapeutic approach is eclectic as I pull from different theoretical backgrounds and my own experience to find what is going to be exactly right for you. My style is warm, interactive, and collaborative. I will treat you with respect, sensitivity, and compassion as we work together, and I will do my utmost to “meet you where you are” as I believe you are the expert on living your own life. I believe you already have your own answers deep inside and just need some guidance at times to find them. My approach is person-centered and combines elements of solution-focused, cognitive-behavioral, existential, psychodynamic and mindfulness therapies. I feel the two biggest indicators of success in therapy are for the client to be engaged and willing to learn to let go of old self-limiting beliefs and to have a strong rapport in the client-therapist relationship.
It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps toward change. It also takes courage to look closely at oneself and one’s relationships and to own one’s “stuff”. If you are ready to take that step, then I am here to support and empower you on your journey as we work together and learn from each other.
I look forward to working with you!
