Texas
Hi!
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of North Texas in psychology and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Dallas Baptist University. I have an immense amount of experience working with individuals from all walks of life. I am experienced in therapeutic work with anxiety, depression, stress, self-injurious behaviors, trauma, psychosis, substance abuse, familial conflict, and grief.
Using a conversational style, I encourage the processing of negative thinking patterns, problem-solving, and real-life interventions for you to experience change. I have adopted an approach to therapy that encompasses CBT and DBT.
Therapy is hard, all of us here at BetterHelp understand that. You may feel worse before you start to feel better. THAT IS NORMAL! You’re kicking up emotions that you’ve worked hard to avoid for a long time. They will not be comfortable, and they will leave you with the urge to run to what you know. Know that the intensity of these emotions is TEMPORARY and the more you process through them the more manageable they will become.
Don't let the fear of change keep you from doing something positive for yourself. I do greatly look forward to working with you!
My current availability for video sessions:
Monday - Friday - 30 minute slots available but times are subject to change on a weekly basis
Saturdays - Unavailable
Sundays - Unavailable
For chat and phone sessions - there will be more flexibility regarding availability. I will do the best to work with your requests.
I try to schedule standing weekly appointments with each client to provide consistency!
Some days responses to messages will be quicker than other. Please allow 4-24 hours for a response. On weekends, response times will vary.

Texas
I live in Texas and possess an unobstructed Texas professional counseling (LPC) license. I obtained a Master’s degree in Counseling and an undergraduate degree in psychology. I have worked for a mental health facility for six years and obtained experience in crisis, psycho-social rehabilitation, received training and experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and received a certification of training in Cognitive Processing Therapy for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). I have worked with people of various ages and development. I have extensive use of the DSM IV and V.
I have experience in working with those who have or have had substance abuse problems, and I have worked in two residential, judicial dual diagnosis centers. Dual diagnosis means these individuals not only have a substance abuse problem, but they have a diagnosable mental illness.
There is continuous research and study, and I continue to search for arenas to expand and update my experience and knowledge in counseling techniques and in mental health. I have an extreme passion to see improvement, empowerment, support and progress not only in my clients but also in myself. I cannot help my client if I do not have those qualities myself.
I am a believer in Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit and do not fear using Biblical principles in my counseling practice when requested.
My main clinical approach is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), but I also adopt other techniques from other approaches such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Gestalt, Person-Centered (Rogerian), and Integrative/Holistic. I am a firm believer that every person is composed of physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual facets, and each facet has an effect on the other aspects of the person.
I have counseled individuals who have received such diagnoses as schizophrenia, bipolar, major depressive disorder, borderline personality disorder, narcissistic personality disorder, anxiety adjustment disorder to name a few.
My counseling style is down-to-earth, warm, and nonthreatening. However, I will set boundaries, and I can be firm regarding those boundaries. I will correct anything that enhances negativity or the stigma that seems to accompany mental illness. I also believe in treating my clients the way I want to be treated. It is my belief that everyone has the right to a more content and rewarding life. If you are brave enough to face the issues that have kept you from these goals, then I am proud that you have chosen me to stand by your side to help you reach your goals. I look forward to working with you!

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and have more than 30 years of experience. I was born and raised in upstate New York but have traveled and lived in many areas of the United States which has allowed me to learn about different cultures, world views and belief systems. I love working with people and supporting and assisting folks to create and live the life they choose. I have worked in inpatient and outpatient settings, group homes, foster care, juvenile justice clients, dual diagnoses and mental health clients.
I believe that everyone deserves to live a life of contentment and self acceptance. To that end, therapy can be very helpful in removing roadblocks and resolving issues that keep us from moving ahead in our lives. I have experience with addressing addictions, LGBT issues, depression, Bi-polar Disorder, anger, self esteem, anxiety, grief and loss, family and relationship issues.
It is helpful to identify issues from the past that may effect how we function in the present, let go and/or create a way of being and looking at the world so that it supports our life journey.
I utilize cognitive behavior as well as reality therapy, teach the tools needed to reach goals, look for solutions and stay focused on the positive.
